In 1428 the Prince of Ning (1378-1448), 17th son of the founder of the Ming dynasty established the YeYoung Tradition. YeYoung Tradition is a synthesis of the Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism body-mind-spirit practice. It consists of the traditional Chinese Five Arts that focus on self-cultivation through Chinese Thought (Chinese sages and their philosophies, Buddhism, and Taoism), Meditation (Qi Gong, Neidan, Taiji quan, herbal medicine, and Chinese art of tea), Divination (I Ching, Fengshui, and other Divinations), Poetry and Calligraphy, and Qin Music. YeYoung Tradition strives to enliven one’s life with a perfection of body, mind, and spirit, become a Master of practice of this earthly life, and lead one to the ultimate Enlightenment.
In the year 2000, the current Patriarch Grandmaster YeYoung established YeYoung Tradition in the USA. Authority to transmit the lineage teaching of YeYoung Tradition was passed directly to the present YeYoung Patriarch by the late Patriarch of YeYoung Tradition, the Sage YeYoung Ren in an unbroken lineage from the time of the Prince of Ning.
Authority to transmit the Chen Family Large Frame Taiji Quan was passed directly to the eleventh generation Taiji Quan Grandmaster YeYoung from the later Patriarch Chen Zhaokui, and the late combative Chen Style Tai Chi Grandmaster Qi Youren.
All certified YeYoung Masters listed on this website are verified by YeYoung Tradition and currently continue to perfect his/her studies and practices under Grandmaster YeYoung. To ensure the authenticity and quality of the YeYoung transmission and teaching, and to encourage the YeYoung Masters’ own ongoing self-cultivation and advancement of practice, the YeYoung Master Certification is indicated with expiration dates. Prospective students should always verify their YeYoung Masters’ qualifications and their certification updates.
